Augustine University Engages in Insightful Discourse at NIIA Distinguished Lecture by 14th Emir of Kano On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Augustine University participated in a thought-provoking lecture hosted by the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) at their Lecture Theatre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The event, entitled "Resetting the Nigerian Economy for a Brighter Future," was delivered by the highly respected 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The lecture drew a distinguished audience, including scholars, government officials, business leaders, students, and members of the diplomatic community. Emir Sanusi, a renowned economist, banker, and traditional leader, offered a comprehensive perspective on the pressing economic challenges and opportunities facing Nigeria in the years to come. In his address, the 14th Emir of Kano emphasized the need for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria's economic policies and structures to create a more prosperous future for the nation. He outlined key issues related to fiscal responsibility, infrastructure development, sustainable industrialization, and education. The Emir also spoke about the importance of good governance, transparency, and the role of international partnerships in achieving economic stability and growth. Augustine University, a prominent institution of higher learning, was represented by a delegation of faculty and students who actively participated in the lecture. The delegation include the Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, Professor Joseph Omoregbe, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Daniel Ogbeide, Head of Department, Economics, Dr. Grace Evbuomwan, Miss Faith Lasisi, a 400 level student of the Department of Economics and Mr. Joseph Mberepe, a 400 level student of the Department of Political Science.
