The maiden edition of the Faculty Week of the Faculty of Science was held from 29-30 January, 2019 at the Convocation Hall. The two days event was a medley of exhibitions and technical presentations from the different departments that make up the Faculty. In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor (Mrs.) Adetutu A. Ajayi emphasized on the importance of science and innovation on the Nigerian economy. She added that all disciplines of science, consciously or unconsciously can provide solutions to the problems of the nation and the world at large. Dr. Oseme Oigiagbe, who holds a doctoral degree in Technology Management and has over 30 years working experience in the automobile industry, both in Nigeria and abroad delivered a keynote speech titled “Driving Enterprise with Science and Technology: The Reality Game”. His insightful topic delved into how vital science and technology have been in driving change and advancements in the world. He added that students should engage the gearing factors that will enable them become problem-solvers and game-changers. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steve Afolami thanked the Keynote Speaker and expressed his joy over the successful completion of the first segment of the Faculty Week. The exhibitions by the different departments rounded up the first day of the Faculty Week. Technical presentations from faculty members and a couple of students were done on the second day. The topics were presented based on research work that had been done in the different departments of the Faculty of Science. Awards were presented to some faculty members to appreciate the efforts towards the growth of the Faculty. The best student in each level in the Faculty were also acknowledged and given awards.
